Matters of the Soul or Sake van die Siel is an Article 18A Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) (Sake van die Siel Trust) registered in South Africa. It aims at developing, restoring and empowering people of all walks of life through Biblically-based psychology and life coaching information.
We aspire to be relevant, up-to-date and modern in our approach. Therefore we use different forms of media such as online videos, social media, radio, podcasts and a blog.
We also do workshops and talks on a variety of leadership and personal development topics.
Covering Areas
We cover areas of a clinical, coaching and family nature.
Focussing on pressing issues ranging from Worry, Stress, Depression, Suicide and Trauma to Communication enhancing for couples, Counselling skills for lay counselors, Beating Burn-out prevention and recovery programme for the Helping professions and community workers and lots more!

Our Team & Leadership
Being a Clinical Psychologist and a Christian has been a long learning curve. Sometimes a confusing and conflicting experience. During my process of working through the maze of psychology and trying to fit a Biblical basis for understanding and helping people, I found a passion and maybe even a gift of transferring what I’ve learned.
My private practice led to an experience of being limited in my impact, although one-on one consultations are powerful and effective, I wanted to reach a wider audience. I became aware of a need in communities to be empowered with the knowledge of psychology and life coaching. I want to share the ideas and knowledge I have gained with others who could benefit from it and might not be able to afford it. Consequently, Matters of the Soul started.
My wife Elsie is a great life partner and walks with me through life’s ups and downs. Our two wonderful children, Amelia and Benjemin, keeps it real and exciting! The difficulties of living keeps me on my knees, where I am really at my best. My relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is the spring from which all of this flow, truly where I find Life.

I am a peoples’ person by nature and love being there for people in their time of need.
I contribute to Matters of the Soul in an administrative role and also as Erich’s wife I walk the road alongside him.
I enjoy doing life together with him and our beatiful two children.

I love people. I love to see how people grow. To give my time to make change possible and the process as easy as possible brings me great joy.
I am married to Quintus and we have a son. We thoroughly enjoy our journey together.
I’m in love with life and sharing it with people is part of my involvement in Matters of the Soul.
Jessica Pieterse
I am an advocate for HOPE, a wife, sister, daughter, and friend. I am an ASCHP accredited Specialist Wellness Counsellor and am the owner and founder of “Selah Specialist Wellness Counselling”. I am working with Matters of The Soul as a Social Media Manager and Content Creator. I have a deeply rooted desire to see individuals and couples find healing, succeed and grow. I personally walked a road with breast cancer and had to deal with the trauma, stress, fear, uncertainty and anxieties that this diagnosis and treatment presents. During this journey I was forced “to pause”, and “to reflect”. In this space I had to learn “to praise”, and a lot of what was holding me back needed to find an “end”. A beautiful hope was birthed in my heart as I weighed in the balances! Because of this I strive to evoke hope in the hearts of those who feel hopeless, awaken purpose in the hearts of those who feel there is none, and my desire is to inspire others to step out and begin to truly live and thrive.
